Hello dear

I have been away for a little while, but I firmly intend to finish this course and take more after. It definitely is taking me more than 4 weeks, but I am not in a hurry.

Here my attempt at the horse. The most difficult part was the harness, no doubt.

The pupils of a horse's eye are slightly elongated horizontally and not round as in a human eye

Question about the grid to use. For the squirrel, the proportions made sense, I used the 10mm grid and doubled it to draw my squirrel on the entire page. For the tiger, it already takes a big part of the page, and with the grid I used for the squirrel, I would have to use a bigger format of paper. Right now, I am just using the 8 1/2 X 11 inch.

What are you suggesting to be able to use the same paper size? I am a bit confused about which grid to use. $:-\$

I was finally able to do it, making my own grid. I used the 10mm one to put the tiger and make up one of 15mm to cover the full page. I think it will be ok.

Hello all,

As you can see, I need help with the whiskers.

I did not have Blu-Tack and for the mask, is this some type of a stencil that I would have to create, which would be several stencils, because the whiskers are not all the same.

Details

I was not going to post it because I am not very satisfied with the results but I am just stuck with the whiskers.

Quite a good piece for just starting drawing. Whiskers are difficult so don't feel bad. Lots of us struggle with getting them right (or avoid doing animals all together as I do).

Keep at it. You are making good progress.

Thank you for your encouragement. I would love to be able to draw good whiskers because later on, I would love to draw one of my dogs. She is a blue heeler with lots of dark, so I am not ready yet. I tried and nope. I probably will have to take the course How to draw dogs. I think I saw one.

there is nothing wrong with your drawing. Never be shy to put anything here. Remember that we are all learning to draw and paint. If we don't see your mistakes then we can't help you to correct them

The mask is simply a sheet of photocopy paper which you then use your craft knife to cut out a sliver. You then place that over the drawing at the place you want the whisker to be. Hold the mask down firmly so it can't move and firmly erase the whisker

Whiskers can be tough

I tend to have a problem with knowing when to stop! The last dog I drew almost ended up with bottle brushes!!!

Fortunately the little girl with me loved it so I gladly parted with it.

Keep going, you are doing a fabulous job.
