I had my mixed media project framed in a floating frame.
Details
I opened my mail this morning to find a letter from the college with my mark. -- A+
My daughter said she wanted it in her kitchen but changed her mind, so I have it in mine.
I've submitted an entry to the college for the next show. It's a juried show. I don't know if I'll be accepted. I should hear by the end of the week, I've never dreamed of doing this. It's a learning experience so I decided to stick my neck out and go for it. The theme of the show is "Space". I think mine is too folk arty for their taste, so I'm not holding my breath. I'm not going to sell it, it's mine!!! I had a lot of fun with this.
I'm looking forward to the second week of July. I'll be painting at the college, using Van Gogh style. I'll be doing my painting in acrylics and probably using the texture medium to emphasize the brush strokes. I haven't decided wat I'll paint yet.
One of the days during the week, I'll be taking a trip to Ottawa by bus to the National Art Gallery of Canada to the Vah Gogh Up Close show.

Nolan, when you offered to teach us "a few fun things", did you have mixed media in mind? I'm having fun in your classes anyway, so no

how did I miss this awesome thread
Seems like you have been having great fun with your mixed media course Lillian
I can see why you got an A+ too
Earlier in the thread you were saying - don't tell Nolan that I cheated - I am the master of cheating, so you will not hear those words from me. You must always use the easiest / most efficient way of doing something, to heck with the purists - it's the end result that matters

I'll be looking forward to that.
By the way, I did get notification that my piece was not accepted in the juried show coming up. I was told there were a lot of entries and I'm sure they don't care for folk art looking stuff. I don't care, as I really just wanted to do this as a learning experience and I had a nice interview with the curator which was in itself a learning experience. I might try putting something in again in the future, just for the fun of it, but this time it would be more in the fine art line.
