I want to enter a painting in a local art show in March.  The theme is birds and buds.  I did a watercolor and a mixed media painting of the same subject. (Photo reference from PMP)  Your suggestions for improvement are welcome and also which painting should I submit? Thanks !!!

Mary Lou

Both are nice, but the top one has a real softness to it that appeals more to me.  Lovely blues on the bird.

If you could soften that hard edge (top right corner), it would appeal to me more.  I like the yellow green colors in it.

I like the first one, too. I like the colour harmony in this. Looks great!

I agree on the first one being the better choice.
Something is bothering me about the bird. Can you post the reference photo of it please?

Thanks Mea and Gita.  Nolan, here is the reference photo.  I embellished the bird so he would stand out a bit more in the painting.  I appreciate your input on this.

all looks fine thank you O0
What bothered me was the left hand edge of the bird. The edge didn't look defined, but now that I see the photo, I am happy O0
