Had a lot of fun painting her hair! At the end I grabbed my palette knife to create the flower. Sooo much fun! I was thinking of putting a bit of turquoise in the flower. What does everyone think?

Comments and critiques welcomed.

Robynann I love her face and her full head of curls.
However I am puzzled by the hair at the top of her forehead. The short bits don't seem to join the long curly hair maybe just blend them in more.

Robynann,

Well, this is quite different.

I agree with TeresaM about the hair at the top of her face. Looks more like a wooden tiara or headband.  And the flower is a bit overpowering.

Nice eyes, though.  And you still have that pouty smile thing going for you.

looks good

What bothers me is that her dress and the background are the same colour making her look invisible ??? ;D

Nolan it's a little different green in the background but I see what you mean.

She is nicely done, but I agree with Mea about the flower being overwhelming and the hair line is distracting from her pretty curls.

If the girl is having a secret.. Robynann then it has something to do with the blooming flower...? It’s one of the focal points in the painting... unless you wanted it that way since it’s overpowering. The girl has beautiful eyes and mouth and hair, too. If the flower had a light colour then the girl‘s face and hair and expression would be more noticeable.

I think I'll chuck this one... LOL  It seems to be more of a learning lesson for me on composition with the flower. Thanks for critiquing it everyone. I learned a lot on this one...

Don't chuck it. Turn it into a lesson on tweaking the painting to improve it O0

Robynann please don't. We all have faith that you can do the changes.
I personally don't mind her flower.

On second thoughts Robynann, you maybe wanted the flower to stand out this way and  I like the painting as it is, really.
If a painting is open for analysis from others you sure will get various opinions. Sometimes even controversial.
Tell me, I am curious.. How do you like the painting? Would you like to make any corrections at all? 💐

Gita I'm not sure anymore. I'm seeing all her flaws now.

Thanks for your answer Robynann! I would then correct what I consider to be a “flaw”.
