I have started to paint the portrait of a young lady wearing an indian Saree and holding a Tambura. I made a photo collage (photo App)and placed her on a pompous ancient throne to suit the ambience. The face is from another close up photo. The small spots are written numbers for the colours.
This young lady is a perfectionist and I hope to fulfill her expectations.
The canvas is big approx. 160 x 60.
I request your critical opinion and suggestions to make this a good painting. Love to hear your thoughts to this.

Each creative act takes one deeper into a realm of beauty and magic, a realm that one has every right to be and claim.

Wow, that’s a big canvas. It looks great so far and I have no doubt you will meet or even exceed her expectations. I’m excited to see this one come together.

Gita,

This is going to be stunning if it ends up as good as it is starting.

Thank you Emma Lee, Thank you Mea! The contours of the face has to be adjusted still. I think I spent quite some time to get the similarity, which is not 100% at present. The rest of the painting will be hopefully less tedious.

Thanks Charles, I am looking forward to meet the challenges of painting the Saree folds and the golden designs. Not sure if I should use paint with gold in it.

This young lady had not given me the permission yet to present the information that she is related to me.. 🤫 🤐. But now I can! 😃 She is my only child and daughter.👶🏻 She really does not like to wear a Saree. The photo was made specially for this purpose.
So painting a face which I know the best is not at all easy... 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Really nice job on the facial features, and I can certainly see the resemblence to you avatar.  Nice work!

Good luck with the gold and folds, I have a lot of fun painting folds, but never as much as what I am sure you will.  There is a lot there.

My only work on gold was for gold foil on a champagne bottle.  There I used yellow ochre as the base, raw umber to darken, and white and cad yellow to lighten as I recall.  I am sure there must be a better way, but I liked how mine turned out. You will get it right for sure.

This will be exceptional when you are done.

Beautiful so far.

You can darken the neck another shade to make the face stand out further O0

Thank you Aniz!
Charles, your experience of colour mixing is really a great help.
Thank you Patricia!
And Nolan I did darken the neck and the face has lighted up. Thank you for suggesting.
Will post after doing some more work on this.
