your notan (note the a
) looks almost perfect, just the black on the just juice needs to be marked as well.
I can clearly see you understand the concept of a notan
Looking at your notan I can see this will make a very interesting still life too. Well done!

To measure vertical lines, I twist my wrist 90 degrees so that the divider is pointing left to right instead of up and down

Thanks so much Nolan, I think the whole juice wrong angle was throwing me off, but for the sake of not having to rough sketch for 3rd time, thought i should check with you, as to whether the Notan was on track. i'll fix up the juice position & the black & that might help me see a better flow.

Take heart Trace. The first time I heard Nolan describing this in one of his video, I head a Nolan. It was only when I saw the word in print that I saw it was a Notan.

fabulous job on your still life Tracey
Just one thing - your shadows - make them darker against the object, then fade lighter. This will give you a better 3D effect. (I do this even if the actual shadow doesn't look like that

Great still life Tracey!
That little tweak on the shadows and it will be brilliant.

Thank you so much Nolan, Val, Dennis & Mary Lou.
I enjoyed & learnt so much with this exercise, so I'm going to repeat the process, as there is a lot of things to consider
& i will fade out the shadows with the next one - thanks Nolan for that

Not sure with this one if I've got it right balance with the dark & light contrasts &/or composition?
Details
* After seeing it here on big screen, I've swapped the bird & vase placements & that looks more balanced with the contrasts
