Thanks Nolan, Mary Lou and Gita.
Three very different interpretations. Guess it really is abstract.

Happy New Week postcard. It's title is "Frosted Hair Chalk." No kidding, I actually bought hair chalk and did the underpainting. Then I brushed over it with thin white India Ink to give it a frosted effect. Lastly, I scratched in the diagonal lines. Have a great week.

looks great MaryAnne
Suggestion : Try another one like this but make the lines thicker and black. I am sure that will look great as well as the black will give good contrast for the vibrant colours
Thanks, Nolan and Val. I gave it a try. The sample was too small to show it effectively, so I am going to try it on larger paper with big diamond shapes. Hmm... even with my bandaged eye, I can see the possibilities.
Will let you know what happens.

Love the colourings Mea, with marks as Nolan suggested it could be a stained glass window.

Interesting technique, Mea! You said „White“ India ink? Can you tell me a bit more about your experience with white India ink, Mea?

Actually, Gita. My experience with white India ink is quite limited. Last year I got obsessed with Dr. P H Martin India inks and used them for abstracts. I found that dropping the white india ink into the other colors led to lots of unique designs. I even dipped the end of a paper towel into a spot and it created even more interesting designs. Here are a couple examples.

As for the greeting card in this message, I really didn't know what I wanted to do next, so just brushed a thin layer of white ink over the hair chalk just to create the frosting. I really wanted to cover the hair chalk with black ink as I had done with previous gouache resists, but didn't feel like making a mess.
Bottom line -- I am just playing around and don't really know what I am doing.

Mea, the first painting above is really filled with many effects.
Have never tried this ink before. Might try the copper plate gold for calligraphy. Checked it on you tube.
Thanks for explaining, have fun further Mea. You are an inspiration! 👏🏻👏🏻

Happy New Week Postcard. I think I missed sending one last week - sorry. Here's one to kick back by. Just a practice sketch I did this morning. Hope to have something more creative next week.

Thanks, Nolan.
I am still in awe at how better I have gotten with drawing. I try to apply the Let's Draw lessons when I draw. I can never than you enough for having those lessons that really taught me how to draw. I'm not afraid of doing freehand drawing now.
