Hi everyone!

Apologies for the long absence. We are swamped with prepping for our move to puerto Vallarta in 2 weeks! It’s been a crazy 2 months getting to this point. My mom was in the hospital for 6 weeks, so that took a lot of time (she’s home now and out of her wheelchair for the first time in 9 months!) Got our house rented, my car sold and our estate sale is next weekend. I was rehearsing for a concert (I was singing two solo songs) that was scheduled this Saturday, but Mother Nature has decided to turn May into Feb so the garden party event was cancelled (so much for my weekly singing lessons!) Also held my final art show end of April  - sold 49 paintings!!
Anyway, it’s been non stop here.

In spite of being swamped, I did accept a commission to paint a peony. And Only because the client is the biggest radio personality in Sacramento. So I’ve been working on this for 2-3 weeks.

Wondering if you think it’s ok. I haven’t been painting much and this one is big (it will measure 30x38 when it’s framed).

Really appreciate any comments!!

Hope everyone is doing well. I’ll be surfing the forum as soon as I can!!

Hugs to all!!
Cheers,
Sharon

Sharon, I like your Peonie very much. The darkish lines as shades gives an interesting touch to the painting. Your client will love this!
Congrats on your multiple sales! 👏🏻👏🏻

Sharon,

Such an exciting time for you.  So much happening.

The flower is beautiful - soft petals.  Maybe a pump up of dark values on the flower and lighter values for contrast on the leaves.

Otherwise, the client will love it just like this.

Thank you Gita and Mea!

I darkened the darks as you suggested, Mea. Looks better! The leaves are under the flower so I decided to keep those as is.

Really appreciate the suggestions. Am sending it now to the client - fingers crossed!!
Cheers,
Sharon

:thankyou: Dennis, Mea and Nolan! And yes, this was a full sheet of watercolor paper!!! With the mat and frame it will measure 32x38!! It’s definitely  a statement price! And I did enjoy going larger!
Cheers,
Sharon
