Hola amigos!!
So we moved to Puerto Vallarta 3.5 weeks ago and it’s been wonderful...and busy!! We are loving our new home. Our dog Cabo is happier here too!!  Getting ready to move here was very stressful with the estate sale and packing and renting our home. But it’s all good now. We actually renewed our wedding vows on the beach last week to celebrate our 10 years of marriage!! Plus I just got cast to play Tanya in “Mamma Mia” at the biggest theatre here in PV. Rehearsals will begin soon. Show starts in Oct. It’s fun to recreate oneself!

I also got my first commission since moving here. It’s actually from a friend in Sacramento who’s coming to visit tomorrow. Her boss is retiring so she asked me to paint his dog’s portrait as a gift she can take home. Here’s the painting and the reference photo. Would love any feedback.

Hope some of you can come visit us in PV. It’s gorgeous here!!
Cheers,
Sharon

Happy 10 year anniversary! Great job on the pet portrait. Her boss is going to love it!
I’m jealous of your reference photo, lately all I get are pics taken at a distance and out of focus.

:thankyou: Dennis and EmmaLee! And I had to ask the client to send me a few photos so I could find the one with the most clarity! I’m lucky she had one!

And I told my husband today for people who are “retired” how come we can never sleep in? We’re too busy! Now off to hear a presentation on surviving the summers in PV!
Cheers,
Sharon

Sharon,

Wow, sounds like you are really settling in.  Happy anniversary and good luck with the Mamma Mia role.  How exciting.

The dog looks great, but I'm wondering if it needs more of a reddish-brown color on his fur.  Seems to be more white than in the photo.

Yes, Dennis is right on the eyes.  They have good depth.

Thanks Mea. I’ll add an orange wash because I agree with you.

Glad you are settled in and that the move went smoothly :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:
Congrats with the anniversary  :congrats:
You dog looks great. I agree with Mea and Dennis. :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:
Another thing you can try next time is to negatively paint your edges of the mane. Take the darker / underneath colour and flick it into the mane. That gives you the appearance of tips on the lighter coloured mane.  O0
