July 2019 Painting Challenge Entries

This month the challenge is to paint the still life below without using any version of black.
No lamp black, paynes grey, etc allowed. Be creative with your colours in order to bring these flowers to life:

1/ Post only
one
painting per person. Post only your
finished
paintings. If you need help, post it in the encourager section.
2/
Any single paint medium may be used including; watercolour, acrylic, oil, watercolour pencil, brusho, inktense or pastel.
If it is not specifically listed, DON'T USE IT! If you are unsure, PM me directly.
3/
When posting your entry, please list type of paint (w/c, oil, acrylic, w/c pencil, inktense) used. Appreciated as it may help someone with less experience.
4/ Entries must be in by 25 July 2019

Here is my attempt at the challenge. Wow, this was really challenging.
Photographing it was even more challenging.
I used viridian and alizarin crimson to make my gray. My painting looks gray but the photo is picking up green in some spots red... anywho...I would have loved to get that beautiful back lit look but after fiddling with this for a long time, this is my best result. I hope someone else tries this, I would love to see another attempt.

Mary Lou, you have done a great job on a very challenging subject. I am busy with the drawing and am finding it very, very difficult using one pencil only. I am hoping to find the time, while taking care of my husband, to do the painting challenge. So hopefully, you may have company.
