I thought I’d like to do a collage, with a watercolor background. Because I need a base that is sturdier than watercolor paper, I thought I’d see what would happen if I tried watercolor painting on a pre-primed canvas board. I also wanted to see if masking fluid would work on this board. Overall, I am quite pleased with my background. The masking fluid did pull off some paint in a couple of places, but I can fix those. I painted this wet into wet, used my spray bottle, and tilted the paper this way and that to get the effect I wanted.

Sadly, I ran into a problem when I tried to adhere a piece of stained tissue paper, printed with writing, onto the canvas board using a matte medium. The medium activated the watercolor paint underneath and smeared the paint.  :-\  >:(  :tickedoff:  So I’m taking my idea in a different direction. Watch this space! :)

Susan

I am quite sure you will come up with a fix that will end up being better than your original plan.

Go for it, girl.

aww, that must have been frustrating.  I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with it now.
