Hi fellow PB members
I am planning on entering this watercolour painting that i finished last week into my local Spring Art Exhibition in September. This is from a photo my husband took some years ago and it is one of the local swimming holes around Canberra.
Wanted to know what you think and if any changes are needed.

it looks great so far :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:
Just the water reflections are bothering me. They don't correspond with the sky. Can you post the photo so I can see please?

here is the reference photo. I got carried away with the trees at the back. Also i didn't like how there were shadows cast over the water from trees to the right that you can't see making the back water very dark.  So i had a guess of the reflections of the trees in the  back. Should i have left the water just a blue colour in this back part.  The reflections of the rocks was very tricky to get them right.

I think you did a good job.  That is a difficult landscape with the still water and reflections.

can you see how the sky and the water both have a shading in them to mirror the sky?
You need to add this to your sky and water reflections in order to indicate distance in the sky

Here I have updated your painting so you can see the difference it makes

Thank you Nolan regarding the sky and reflections.
I did 2 light washes over the sky area and then used the magic eraser sponge to lift some paint in the water for the cloud reflections and then added a very slight pink wash to these areas. What do you think now?

Beautiful Teresa. Those sky reflections made the painting pop.
