These two precious young ladies are my youngest two granddaughters who graduated from high school with top honors.  Emily (on left) as some of you may remember her posting her art on PB over the years, was one of two students from her school chosen as a National Merit Scholar.  She left for college last Tuesday for Michigan State University.  Her cousin Lauren made her the beautiful haku flower lei for her l8th birthday we celebrated with her before she left.  Lauren left a few days later for Pomona College in California.  Her brother remains the only one left in school, a sophomore in high school.  If my youngest grandchildren have grown up, it must be I have, too!  :) ~Liz

:thankyou: NOLAN & GITA for your kind remarks.  I hope my daughters will make a good transition with the changes in their own homes.  Their lives revolved around their daughters as you can imagine.  But the girls will be home for Christmas, Spring, and then Summer.  In fact, Lauren is thinking she’ll be home for Thanksgiving, which is her birthday!

NOLAN,
I think you’re right!  The initial separation is tough on PARENTS, but before you know it, the photos they send home will show a wonderful orientation week planned for them like Emily had at Michigan State, with all the works.  Lauren just returned from a 3 day ‘real’ outdoor camping at Sequoia National Park; there was no time to miss her parents or home.  And the kids are all smiles with new friends.  :)

Where is your daughter going to college?  It’s harder when they are FAR away, but there’s texting and Face Time.
