Liz (I skip the comma now since internet communication is much more casual)

Here I am.  Was thinking of you the other day when Patrick Ching's photo appeared on front page of Honolulu Star Advertiser with a story about the painting of the traffic light electrical boxes in Kailua.  I will be doing a similar story for MidWeek (Windward).

Have been super busy.  Two receptions this month - one tonight at Ho`omaluhia from 4 to 6.  And Friday, Nov. 22, from 5:50 to 8 at Cedar Street Galleries.  Both are miniatures shows.

Plus I had an article yesterday in Star Advertiser  (play //arts section) about the reopening of Koa Gallery.  I went to that opening last evening.

Check out my new avatar (going up later today)  - a sketch made yesterday by my friend Cynthia Schubert Richmond.

Let's try to meet up one of these days before the end of the year.

ALOHA, MaryAnn!
It is difficult to switch as I have always called you Mea..but I shall try!

That’s such a beautiful portrait!
You do keep busy MaryAnn!wishing you all the best for your receptions!

Thank so much Liz.Maybe I will give medium a try.i hear so varying reviews that using medium make the painting little tacky if you not careful!so I guess I just stuck to water.

HI MARYANNE!
I thought I wrote you a post, but don’t know where I put it.  I was looking for Art Stuff and then found all of your beautiful works of art.  My, you sure are a busy, creative person-with your art columns, too!!!  I liked looking at the photos section and saw Brian, Amber, Emily, Us, and so many more in your timeline capture of people and events.

HI JAY!
Mea said we can write informal on blogs or forums so I will do that.  It is fun to write pidgin/Creole English/colloquial style, too. You like do dat? Just kidding.
Re medium: If you use too much, it could be sticky, esp. if you dip a dry brush into it.  I taught the people at the Rehab art group to always dip their brushes into water, wipe off excess gently, then dip into medium and/or paint.  A tip an artist taught me is to make a mixture of 1-l medium and water which is what I do.  If you use water only for thinning your acrylic paint, it may have a dulling effect.  If you want an opaque effect and not transparent, you will want to avoid too much water. That is my experience anyway.

you are becoming quite the influencer in your art community MaryAnne. I am really proud of what you have achieved so far, which as far as I can tell is only the tip of the iceberg :not_worthy: :not_worthy: :not_worthy:

LOVE the new avatar :smitten:
