Your Shephard is so good Marie.   I had to zoom in to check it wasn't a photo! He is so real. Well done.

Yay, finally finished the Dog painting course, nearly gave up a few times, this was way out of my comfort zone and harder than I thought it would be but I am so glad I persevered. Thankyou Nolan for your thorough teaching.

This absolutely rocks Marie... Very well done,,, I wanted to comment on it earlier when I saw it on the forum (your gallery) but can't comment there... why not?

Very well done... I love the selective texture buildups throughout in particulat - short hair/long hair...  frame it... hang it!

If there is any criticism at all I might have ,,, its negligible...

For me the top of the dogs muzzle seems too sharp.. not sure if its the lighter hair values  closer to the eyes or what but I'm seeing too much separation if it were mine I'd dampen down just those lighter hairs a tad (if it were oils maybe soften them slightly too) so that the transition to the background is not quite as sharp.. That said... that's just me.. do not touch this!!!! ;)

Thankyou everyone for your kind comments. I tried my hardest to make mine as good as yours Nolan, so thankyou for the compliment. The real challenge will be trying to paint my dog now. But first I need to attempt the owl painting I started ages ago. :thankyou:

Nolan, I have the Dog Portrait course but am missing the Shepherd PDF reference photos. All the other animals are there but not the shepherd. Have I missed them somewhere?  Thanks

Here is my Border Collie.  I painted it in oil.

Now on to the remaining dogs.

Great job Bob :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

The eyes are nice and alive and you have a lot of detail in the hair.

I can see the photo came out a bit light so I suspect the hair is showing greyer than it really is, if not just add more black hairs in the dark areas to ensure the dog appears black and not grey O0

Thanks Nolan.  Yes, I tried taking the picture outside but it was very bright out.  Also, I do have a lot of mid-tone grey.  I'll add some more black. :thankyou:
Bob
