I managed to finish lesson 3 and 4 after much procrastinating , it all seemed too much. I am glad I persevered , painting hairs takes way longer than I ever could have imagined. Now I only have 3 more to go!Will add photos when I figure out how. My computer does not like me.

Great work on the dogs.  Have fun with the rest of them.  I learned so much following this course.  :smitten: :smitten:

Thanks Nolan but I will leave my dogs to a later date when I feel more enthusiastic.  Just going to try some of the smaller paintings I have lessons for.

Hi there

I'm a newbie to you all and found you when i found and did the teddy tutorial recently.

I am fairly new to painting (only started towards end of last year) but couldnt resist trying this dog course, even though I worried i was  overreaching.

I am afraid I also need to admit I am not using the correct standard of paints - my bad -  and am trying to make do with what I have (mostly craft with a few student grade)...

Anyway I'm rambling! I want to call my collie done (bar whiskers which I will add when I'm sure I'm done).
But need advice as to whether it is ok to stop him now - or still way too soon.

I'm at a stage when I'm just going it over and over and not improving it by doing so - in fact, im often making it worse with the over fiddling.

Can I ask advice from you lovelies as to whether there is anything glaring I need to amend before adding whiskers and formally calling it done.

Constructive criticism is welcome albeit I'm hoping its nothing too major, as I'm not sure I know how to go back too many steps without ruining lol.

Thanking you in anticipation...
Vanessa

Ps. Also any advice how to rotate a photo in the gallery would help this muppet'Ness loads...  :2funny:

:bigwelcome: to the Paint Basket family Vanessa, so glad you joined us and the course. :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

I think you have done an awesome job on your Border Collie. Excellent for someone that has only started painting a few months ago :congrats: :cloud9:

When you feel you are fiddling but not improving things, that is always your cue to stop O0

Put in the whiskers and sign this one with pride O0

I look forward to seeing your progress :heeha:

Awwww Nolan. Thank you so much for such a lovely encouraging reply.

I shall off back downstairs and do the whiskers now. It's 10.35pm here so it will feel good to finish tonight (after weeks of collie'ng). Heres hoping for a restful sleep to follow with no dreams of brushstrokes and colour mixing lol.

Again thanks so much for your sweet reply and thanks also for such a wonderful lesson...
