I am having a real hard time with the Labrador. The ears, mouth, nose etc is good. The face is a problem. Those who have completed the Labrador did you make the initial blocking in color same as the ears? My ears blocking in color was much darker, I did try to match according to what Nolan did in the lesson. I just feel that perhaps I went to light and now adding the rest in hair by hair is getting to me.
For those who completed the Lab, any advice and insights please.
I do feel rather discouraged at the moment.

Lab in progress:
Here is the progress so far. I did the darker areas yesterday and tried to add lighter fur but it hardly picks up, that is why I think I must do the base color darker perhaps?

Here is a closer view

There is still a lot of tweaking and details that need to be done after I completed the fur.

What do you suggest Nolan?

yes, your base is not dark enough to light colours have nothing to contrast against. I suggest giving a glaze. That will darken up without loosing all the existing texture, then you can come back and add the lighter colours back in. O0

PS - the eyes are looking fantastic :heeha:

Wow, I finally finished this one.  Because of family circumstances I restarted this one several times. I am glad that I finished it.
It is painted in oil.
