I don’t follow much news but learned of the depth of the devastation in Australia today. My heart is heavy for the loss for both humans and wildlife. Prayers for all affected by these horrible fires.

Teresa, it’s been so tough for all of us Aussies, especially all of you in the east.
I don’t know about you but I am overwhelmed by the generosity of the people of the World! Not to mention those in Australia who have given up so much. The great Aussie spirit lives on. Apart from the human costs, the loss of animals is absolutely devastating. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

And from all the lands on earth we come
We'll share a dream and sing with one voice
"I am, you are, we are Australian"”

The catastrophic fires, loss of human and animal lives and their homes are horrendous.  Just know that we are lifting you all up in prayer continually for the ceasing and end to these devastating fires.     Patricia

:thankyou:  :thankyou:  everyone for all your prayers. Australia has finally had some rain though not enough to put out some of the fires, but it has helped get them under control.
This morning was the 1st day that Canberra's urban areas have been downgraded from state of alert. We haven't have fires here but alot of smoke.
This last weekend was the 1st good quality air and lovely blue skies. Although Canberra just a while ago had a huge rainstorm pass through and some suburbs have had hail damage and power outages. The Southside of Canberra where I live was spared thank God.
Thank you all again for your comments and support for all over the world raising funds for all those around Australia that have been affected by these fires.
However the areas that haven't been affect by these fires are also suffering a downturn in tourism. Please tell everyone that you know that it is safe to come visit Australia.  :flowers: :-*

Hi everyone prayers needed again.

Just after I did my last post Canberra got hit with a massive hail storm. Hail the size of golf balls, lots of damage to hundreds of cars and buildings. I stayed home due to storm warning so OK.

BUT today we had warnings of very strong winds which has flared up a number of fires in surrounding NSW.

Two fires are out control in Canberra.  One near our airport and another in Canberra's forest area heading to our neighbour town Queanbeyan (where I grew up).
At present I'm not in any danger, just sitting here listening to my radio for updates and just keeping calm.

Just wanted to say thank you again for your thoughts and prayers. Our firefighters did a fantastic job controlling the fire keeping it away from houses. Under control now and we had a bit of rain to help. Lost internet for a day or so.

However it is with a very sad heart that we also learnt that on the same day, the American Coulson company, large air tanker crashed in our Snowy mountains area with a loss of 3 lives.  Apparently these 3 wonderful American men have been here for some months now helping Australia figt these fire.

So glad you are safe.  It is so hard to read about this sad situation in your beautiful country.  The loss is overwhelming.  Hoping this ends very soon. :flowers:

Thanks everyone for your prayers. Yes I am safe MaryLou thank you.  :smitten:
Although it's only been this week that we have clear skies without smoke in and around Canberra. We had lots of fires in the ACT with lots of rural areas suffering losses. Thankfully the firefighters kept it away from Canberra homes. We did however have at least 50% of the ACT's beautiful Namadgi National park burnt.

Last night we had some soaking rain so hopefully that has helped put some of the fires out not just under control.

Australia has finally had rain but in Qld and around Sydney they received too much and they now have flooding.  :pullhair:
