This is a 2 part question on the equipment/supplies that are recommended by Nolan.

Q #1  Since I already had purchased some sketching pencils years ago, Walter Foster, I feel I need to use these as I'm a beginner and learning as I go. At least for now. Later, when i do get comfortable  ill most likely purchase a better set. I'm sure there's a considerable difference. Anyone have helpful advice?

This one is mainly for Nolan,  but all input is welcome.

Q#2 Is it impairative to use masking tape rather than painters tape to seal the edges of your paper?

Masking tape is not too friendly at times. Thank you for taking the time to read my posts.

Anita, your Walter Foster pencils should be very high quality so please don't rush out to buy others O0

I use painters as well as masking tape depending on the application. Sometimes you need a better adhesion that the masking tape is better. When you want to easily remove the tape then painters tape is better.

Tip - to remove masking tape use a hairdryer to soften the glue as you carefully remove it O0

Thank you Nolan! Well I had no idea as of the quality of Walter Foster pencils. I just needed to purchase 2 sketching pencils to complete my supplies. BUT, as I started researching I quickly realized that just those two alone would be between $10 to $15. So... what the heck, I'll be needing them down the road. I splurged and got a whole set for $18. It looks to be a real nice one, 32 pieces set with graphite & pastel pencils, paper erasable pen, (never heard of it) in a zippered case. I don't really make fast decisions, lots of research and at least 3 or 4 days to decide.

Oh and Thanks agin for the handy hair dryer tip

Toodles....
