Thank you…I overworked my paper & those bottom stones didn’t show well in the photograph. I’m loving the course but find it extremely challenging. It takes me a long time to finish a project. It doesn’t come naturally to me.

I felt exactly the same way when I did that course. I still take a long time with painting but it feels really good when it is all coming together  :)

Another tough one. I have a heavy hand & need to employ a light touch. Hopefully that will come with practice. I’m so amazed at the way it appears that Nolan barely touches the paper. As he moves his pencil, it just looks so effortless. I love watching him.

Lynne

I have not been following Paintbasket as regularly (vision problems) as I used to so have not had a chance to welcome you.  Happy to have you with us.

Definitely stick with the drawing classes.   You are off to a good start with this cup.

I was a total non-drawer when I started and I have learned enough to enjoy drawing, but still need to learn more and practice every day.

I bought a cheap blank page composition book so I can do some sort of sketching and watercolor sketch every day.  It's good discipline to know you HAVE to do the sketch every day or have a blank spot in your journal that will always haunt you.

Good luck. Keep at it.

You have done a great job with your hatched mug Lynne, well done :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

I can see you understood the concept immediately. Did you enjoy drawing this?

I did enjoy drawing the coffee mug & I’m equally enjoying the so teddy bear. I love the cross-hatching technique...being a math teacher, the plane concept makes total sense to me & I can easily visualize the direction. So I have especially liked these last 2 lessons, although I enjoy them all. Also, I wanted to tell you that after I drew the coffee cup, I drew the teddy bear from the reference photo. I would’ve never attempted that before nor would I have known where to start. With all this practice in visualizing & shading, I’m understanding more about looking at an object & seeing the angles & shapes. I have learned so much already & I thank you for that. You’re a fantastic instructor & you really make it all understandable.

Thank you, MaryAnne…it’s good to hear that you were a non-drawer as well but can now enjoy drawing. That’s exactly what I want but never thought I could. This course is giving me hope in that arena. It’s so nice to have this connection with all of you at Paint Basket.

That's great, Lynne.  The Paintbasteers are so wonderful.  We are like family.

Keep drawing.
