We are still in shutdown and I feel like I have been caught in a time web!  I spent two weeks thinking about this painting because my Alaskan cruise was canceled and I did want to ride the White Pass steam locomotive again over the Yukon trail.  So this is a little memory of my 2010 family trip to Alaska.  It was quite challenging working from a sketch only. The gravel is darker on the painting.  Maybe I should rework it and gray it down? ~Liz

This is great Liz.

Wait to see what Nolan says, but I think the gravel should get narrow as it recedes to the distance almost meeting the tracks.

Liz. This is beautiful.  Sorry to hear of your cancelled trip.  I do agree the gravel could be made to help with the perspective a bit more but it is a great way to show a memory.  Hugs from Molokai.

Liz I hear you, as we had our travel cancelled too and we were planning to do the Canada Alaska tour which we were  to start this week. Overseas travel probably won't happen until next year if that.

Lovely painting and the mountains are great

Hi Liz, I think it looks great although I agree about the perspective as well.

A cruise to Alaska is on my bucket list.

We also had our cruise to Papua New Guinea cancelled. We were only supposed to get back 2 days ago.
Aroha! Lisa :-)

Sorry about the cancelled trip :-\

At least you had this good memory to paint :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

I agree with MaryLou that the sides of the track need to get more linear perspective, especially on the left side. By the time the track reaches the train it should be pretty thin in relation to the train O0

:thankyou: Everyone for your comments! I looked at a lot of trains on train tracks and decided on widening the tracks in the foreground and tapering the track to enter the bend to match the width of the engine. The width in the foreground is double that of the track in front of the train. Actually it looks OK for a non-engineer I think.-Liz
