Pencil portraits

I have done a few pencil portraits for friends and co workers, but I always struggle with...am I asking too much or too little...do I consider my time plus the value of portrait, or just a fixed fee, no matter the time.

you have to consider the time taken to draw the portraits. The cost per hour you charge though will depend on your financial requirements, how well you are known, etc.

Good points Nolan. I have been asked about doing some graphite boat portraits. You will be seeing some of those soon. They'll just be a practice run to see if I can do a worthwhile job. Sure hope it doesn't take me as long as those faces!
