I think you have done an amazing job and the skin tones fit in with the old painting look :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

:thankyou: Nolan. Then there is no need to make a new one. Is not it?  I surveyed on social media for the new lesson.  ::)  Renoir or classical still life? The results are moving very closely.  ;D

If I were you I would be happy with this painting Belma. O0

If however you wanted the skin tones closer to the original, then by all means practice that then when you are happy you have the colours, maybe give this one a glaze?

This was my 3rd attempt at acrylic painting and my 1st attempt at portraits of any kind in traditional media. The reason I picked up this course. EXCELLENT instruction and demonstration...This is my fiest Art lesson since Secondary School some 40 years or so ago.... Finally I'm at Art College!  :D

30cm x 45cm on home prepped Canvas Board

Guys I'd like to know a bit more about the palette and keeping paints workable,,, I picked up a bunch of Golden paints which are not the cheapest so don't want to be wasteful. I also made a wet palette and bought a slightly bigger mastersons one but when I watch thse demos you seem to be working of paper sheets? how do you keep that paint workable for more than 2 minutes at a time? I have a few mediums but even they don't retard the drying time by that much...

You have done an excellent job John :congrats: :not_worthy: :cloud9:

My palette is actually a white ceramic tile. To keep the paint workable I have a spray bottle filled with water. Every now and again I mist the palette with the water which keeps the paint from drying out. The minute I feel the paint starts gripping to the palette as I try to pick up the paint, then I know it's time to mist the palette again.
Doing this, I can paint using the same paints the whole day.

If I need to leave for a time, say overnight then I give the palette a good mist and place a cover over it so the moisture can't escape O0

I kind of replied in kind on your comment elsewhere,,, been working on glass and misting.. more or less got around 40 minutes to an hour but it may just be that it's cooler here today... climate is typically dry though I lie in a humid pocket,, Thanks for getting back on this though...

Here is my first effort, done with cheap student paints. I need your words to help me do a second effort, new and improved with better paint and your recommendations. I have already made the mouth a bit larger, about 1/8”, 3 mm toward the Pearl.  Don’t hold back, I can take it. Thanks.

I like it Downmid... wish the portrait was actually in protrai view here to view it right,,, It's okay I was rearranging the furniture anyway so just lay flat! =D

I like the muted colours in this, blending is great as is the reflected light on the jaw. Good Job!

I think you have done a fantastic job on this Downmid :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

I like the colours, they give the painting an old feel to it.

Just the blouse - the darks and the lights meet in hard edges. The material gradually rounds from dark to light so you need to shade the edges O0

You can be very proud of this painting - I will rotate it inside your gallery for you so it shows upright O0
