Well my goodness, my portrait looks much older and I have deformed his nose!  :crazy2:  I took this class because I had no idea how to do a portrait in pen and ink.  Thanks Nolan, this was a good class and I did learn a couple of good hints.

Here is the outcome:

Now that I see it in comparison to yours, I see where I need to darken some areas.

I think this is better but needs work.   Now I know why I do not do portraits.  :-\

looking great so far :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

What you want to do is keep adding cross hatching, especially in the mid tone areas. Can you see how much better your second version is with more hatching? More hatching adds more body, especially because your hatches are quite close together O0

Thanks Nolan, I had to look at this from a distance, using the "squint" technique and then I could see where I needed to add value.

Hi everyone,

Here is my version of the boy.
Nice lesson on cross-hatching.

I used a fineliner, size 0,8.

I did this in pen and ink and found it quite challenging.  I think you have done a very good job.

Thans Mary Lou,

I found your portret under the Pen and Ink section. Maybe that is a beter place to post it than here.
