It’s almost midnight here and when I opened the link of this Song, Nolan.. it’s so catchy that I had to listen to something else before going to sleep!

The new website looks very modern and colourful! It’s going to be real fun to experience it! 👍🏼👍🏼

Just another update as far as the new forum is concerned. I have been trying to get it so that both OAL and PB members can use the same forum, but I am just not winning. The two site simply have too many members already so the overlap in usernames, etc is significant. This is causing problems when somebody logs in or changes info and there is a corresponding username on the the other site because the forum thinks this is one and the same user. I have tried to go through the list of usernames to find and change overlaps, but then there are members here that also belong to OAL with different usernames or different email addresses, etc. It's like playing whack a mole :crazy2:
As a result I am pretty much back to square one as far as the forum is concerned. Technically it is ready to release and everything is in place and has been for a few months now.

In other words we are back to the situation of having either :1) only a forum here, OR
2) a forum here and on OAL that look and work the same but are separate,  OR
3) having a combined forum with it's own log in on it's own website. that is independent from both PB & OAL leaving members with ANOTHER log in to remember.

What are your suggestions or thoughts on how best to solve this dilemma?

Hello Nolan. The new forum will be great. :yippee:  My opinion is option 3. I guess this is less of a hassle. Members can join with their most preferred username here or at OAL.
Having a single forum will not divide your energy. Best not to have to follow separate forums both here and OAL. For example, when I upload an image, I upload both OAL and here. You have to comment twice. Is it necessary?
Please do not forget! My English is not very good.

Hi Nolan, thanks for the update.  If I am understanding this correctly, option 3 would combine the forum and art lessons but be totally new.   I would be fine with that.  It would be nice to have everything in one place.

That being said if you were to leave it as it has been, that would be fine with me also.   Whatever works best for you.  :gl:

Mary Lou no option 3 would have PB and OAL each on their own site as now. The forum would then be on it's own website with it's own separate log in.

Just catching up and came across this quandary

The new forum looks brilliant! I´m thinking #1 more for simplicity, would save on a lot of double(+) posting and would possibly help keep costs down, would it not?

Oh, gee, okay, I get it now, this was confusing, I am old and get confused easily  :2funny:
Looks like 1 would be the way I would go.

Nolan, choice 1, as is now, would be fine.

Now that is really something to ponder about. Nolan I am easy to go with whatever is the easiest for you, and would not cause any additional costs for you.

I can see difficulties with all 3 options.   Seems like something will have to give... but as long as it is not YOU, Dennis, classes or our artists' community, I am happy.  :flowers:
P.S. wasn't OAL created because PB was reaching capacity and becoming more and more complex to update?
Cheers, Annie

When we started PB things were still pretty basic on the Internet. I had to program everything we needed myself and making changes and updates to the code became very time consuming stealing my time away from teaching art. That is true.

The reason for splitting the same classes onto two websites however was because things grew too complicated - you could purchase the classes as well as become a monthly member. I found that people thought you had to do both, hence the reason to split the two payment methods onto their own websites.
The reason for wanting a new forum system is because this software is not being actively developed so is pretty much obsolete at this stage. With software you need to stay up to date or you open yourself up to all sorts of problems.

I missed this. I think Option 1 would be easy, Nolan. The member could match their logins themselves? Does this make sense?
