Here is an oil painting of crocuses I finished. I took the picture from my yard.  Background may be too busy.  I would try a solid background next time.  Because of the picture angle, they seem to be floating a little.  Probably could have added crimson to match picture more too.

Beautiful work.

Perhaps just add a dark shadows underneath or a stem in focus so they don't float.

The petals are beautifully rendered     Agree with Maryna. Also the stamens need shadows added to them to show the rounding  O0

Thanks for the feedback.  I'll try the shadows first.  Should I make the shadows a little soft and out-of-focus like the background, since the shadows are falling over the background?  If I make the shadows "crisp", like the ones on the petals, then I wonder if they will end up floating with the crocuses.

Just add the stems to the flowers. That will lift them from the background.  Study the stamens carefully. They have highlights and shadows, which you do not have in the painting. Make these corrections a repost the painting.  O0

Beautiful work and with the revisions this will awesome.   Adding shadows to the stamens will separates the tiny buds and define their stems.

Thanks everyone for the compliments and feedback.  I added the stems and worked in some shadows and highlights into the stamens.

Beautiful work Bob. The flowers really pop and the added shadow/highlights of the stamens really add to the 3D effect. Well done you!  O0
