Ok... I watched the bubbles video which was excellent, but didn´t quite get me where I wanted to go, so....
I went on the lookout to see what else might push me in the right direction. Then... voila!
I found an oil lesson on painting seashells on the beach which had bubbles and foam!
Have watched it twice now, and I think I now know what I need to do.
Brilliant! So as an aside to anyone having an issue with figuring out how to accomplish a particular technique, don´t be afraid to look into the other mediums for an answer. You may just find what you need.
How clever of
Dennis and
Nolan to have created such a vast library of lessons and techniques that cross over to all of the various mediums. Bloody Brilliant!!!

I´ve completed two layers so far, without totally losing the underlying layers.
I´m thinking it will take another 3 maybe 4 to finish the effect. It really is quite exciting! PLUS...no cauliflower worries!!!

Bad news... I binned it a couple of weeks ago.
At first I berated myself as I usually keep the not so lovelies as a lesson learned. However! This one had me so bamboozled I actually snapped the board in two.
I found it gave me a rather perverse pleasure
and am feeling much better now!
Shall be starting a new adventure in about a months time. Has anyone ever painted an iceberg before?

So you had a Jimmy Hendrix moment. I am sure it felt good.
<--what Bill said
I have had several students paint them though. You have to look carefully at the tonal values and colours as they can have subtle variations

Aww, Val, been there, done that.
I would imagine painting an iceberg would be about getting all the light and subtle colors right. Pretty intense. What a fun challenge though!
Bill, you always make me laugh. I also tried to paint an ice cube, it turned out well but I can't post it as it melted.

Oy!!!
So pleased to see humour is alive and well. Don´t ever change.
I found a set of ¨Ocean Blues¨ online and figured that would be a good place to start. As usual, available in US that will ship to Canada, but not MX. Boy do I know how to pick my countries or what?!
Anyway, having them sent to Canada, and a friend is bringing them down later this month.I have been digging about and there seems to be a rather strong opinion on using violets.
Trying to decide if I should chuck in another order or stick with the blues I have coming and the few turquoises I have. I suppose I could try mixing some violets from the purples (mostly darker) I have. Any opinions or am I overthinking the whole thing? Chances are I won´t be able to see the difference anyway. Right...I´ll just stick with the blues and what I have. Thanks guys, always great to have someone about to chat things through.!

Just match the colours on the reference and you will be okay, don't overthink it

Thanks Nolan, I do seem to be overthinking a lot nowadays. Will take your advice and work as close as I can with what I have.
Breathing easier already.
