This was for the September challenge  "serene".  Landscapes are out of my comfort zone.  Reference is Sandie Bell's photo on PMPart.

Your suggestions and comments are very appreciated.

:smitten: Just love it Mary Lou, nice blending of colours. My only suggestion is something non distractive in the lower left????

Thank you Bill.  I am not too clear on what you are suggesting.

Your painting is well done and I love the pine trees.

:thankyou: Mary Lou, seems to me there is too much negative space, maybe a splash of colour to balance it up.
I would like to read Nolan's  :smart: thoughts on this.

Oh, thanks Bill.  Maybe there needs to be a focal point?  I will be interested to what Nolan has to say.

Great job guys, both are lovely paintings. :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

MaryLou I would like to see some darker values along the water's edge - the trees etc always cast shadows on the area underneath. This darker area will add to the depth and perspective in the painting.
I would also like to see a duck on something on the water as a focal point O0
Bill the lines are very parallel in your painting which is not a problem, but if you add a taller tree or two that break the line on the left hand side (as you have done on the right with the front trees) then that will give you eye a bridge to the back trees.

Then some birds on the top left third would give a great focal point to the painting O0
