I have been very blessed with the amount of commissions I get for pet portraits. I love dogs, more than I can ever explain. But I have recently felt kind of bored painting them. Anyone ever had that feeling? I decided to close my bookings for now. I am finishing off all my commissions and then want to paint something different, something I want to paint.

Give me your insights on this. Ever felt like this?

Hi Maryna, I can understand how you feel even though I do not do commission work.  It probably feels like a "job" rather than doing something you want to do.   So take a break, I think that is wise.  I think it is totally natural to feel as you do.

Your commissions keep the pot boiling and you are really starting to get good at them now so don't stop - when your business is on the boil never take it off the heat, it may not come up to the boil again. If the commissions are coming too fast, then that is your cue to increase your prices some more.
That should slow the commission rate so you can do other artworks in between without losing income.

What you can also do is space your delivery time frames so that you get the chance to do one of your own artworks here and there in between to keep the creative juices flowing and the to test other signature styles O0
