Hello Everyone,
Happy to be here, Dennis & Nolan are great teachers. Looking forward to learn a ton. Before this course I dabbled across YouTube and didn't make much progress. I am glad to find PaintBasket.
I have a question on the material, since the regular pencil wears off and the size and weight changes, I was convinced that 2mm Clutch pencils are the way to go because the pencil weight stays fairly constant for the life of the pencil and they do last really long time  :)
I have Steadtler 780C. They are great pencils I am struggling a bit to get used to it. Any suggestions on how to make chisel point and cover wider area?
 :thankyou: Anant

The mechanical pencils will work, but you may find their lead is thinner than a regular pencil, especially when it comes to the darker / softer lead making a broad shadings more difficult and time consuming.
But I think you will get used to it and then the  different time it takes will just become normal.
To create a chisel point with the pencils you have, start by holding the pencil vertical then sand the tip until it is blunt. Then use the blade of a craft knife held at right angles to the lead and scrap it from the base of the pencil towards the tip flattening out an edge for yourself. Then rotate the pencil 180 degrees to do the same on the other side.
Alternately you can also use a sheet of very fine sand paper to sand the tip instead of using the knife.
Hope that helps

 :gl: with the course

Here is my first attempt to draw the landscape. I did not see any attachment buttons how do I upload a picture in the replies?
The sketchbook paper was bit too rough to my taste, next time I will try to find a bit smoother paper.

Thank you all for your encouragement. I am really enjoying the course.
Here is Teddy, paper appears a bit yellow that was because of low sun light and beaten up phone camera.
