The only sludge in this one is intentional!  O0
Thanks Dennis-I was using very light pressure, but coloring it all the way in the previous painting(s).  Huge difference with your advice, and much nicer to paint with.

Natalie,

The coloring is much more subtle now.  Lovely.

Looking back at the first one next to this one and I would say the first one was more brassy looking.

The first couple of ones I did were very garish Mea-I blamed the pencils.  Just too much color at once.  Looking at it on my monitor I see where I  could still go a whole lot darker.

Natalie,

I find that the farther I push my laptop screen back, the darker everything gets.  Not quite sure just how far back I should press before I distort everyone's tonal values.

Found my set of 18 Caran D'ache I bought in 1986 or 87 Which I used once back then. The metal box is a bit rusty now, it had been stored in the barn for twenty years :)

And I'm off for a two and a half day Watercolour course.

Kedde,

This is a fun painting - or is it really a drawing if done with watercolor pencils?  Whatever - it's a fun piece.
