Dennis is right W, we have a pair of tuis in our Kowhai tree and they look a bit like blackbirds with tiny beards until they get sun on them - like your bird.

I painted a Tui Bird! What fun!
I'm caught up with the watercolor lessons!
Details
Getting caught up doesn't mean I'm done, I need to go back and repeat some of them.

Gloria, Dennis, Nina,
I had fun doing it.
I did the background before the replay was available. I went by your pdf, Dennis, tried to copycat you.
I painted the bird while watching the replay.
Dennis, I keep running out of the color I've mixed up. You don't seem to be mixing up large puddles, yet you never run out of paint. What's the secret???

Dunno. Never thought about it
I suppose it is down to experience and practice - and guesswork
Or maybe I'm doing a bit of sleight-of-hand

Lillian
Just saw your bird., well a glimpse of it anyway, It took flight right in front of me and flew off
Talk about realistic.................WOW
It will be a real challenge for this old buzzard to catch that bird!!!
Time to stop "flapping" my "wings" and get back to
P.S. The bird is the EZ part, Now IF i can ever master the
wet washes,

Brian

Tousabella,
Dennis does such nice compositions and the colors he uses helps us enjoy the learning process. I tried to copy the background from the pdf. I had fun doing this.

I like your bird Lillian - and I think you've done a great job on the set of his head and the neck feathers. I had a bit of trouble with both of these.

Karen and Jennylynn.
Karen, I find it can be a little tricky getting fine lines with masking fluid. I have heard it can be thinned with a bit of water but I have never tried that.
