Some time ago someone in this art community showed a painting of a single red rose (sorry I forgot who, I'm old is my usual excuse). I thought it was one of the most beautiful paintings I had ever seen and it inspired me to give it a try.
While mine is nowhere near as well done, I am quite happy with it.
This was done in Acrylic on a 5" x 7" canvas board so I apologize that my photo is slightly out of focus (I had to take it with the macro). The photo colours are a bit off. My painting has slightly darker reds and greens.

Alan, your painting looks good and, I like how a close macro shot makes it fill the scene. The compliment with the background looks great and gives a sense of vibrancy.
