Hello Dennis:

I am thrilled with the drawing and sketching lessons.  I decided about 3 weeks ago that if I was going to paint, I needed to know how to draw.  It is definitely much more difficult to do than one would think.

I have done a couple of sketches, one of a brown eyed susan and a couple of cattails or bulrushes if you prefer.  But I don't have any idea how to upload them.  Can you shed some light on this for me?  Thank you so much for all that you are doing.

Bobbi

Thanks Dennis et al.  I hope I have done it right.  I did some pencil sketching this past weekend whilst out to our cabin.  Then when I got home I found this lovely lesson awaiting me.  Thought I would share.  The one in the small notebook is a black eyed susan, a popular wild flower, and the second is the end of the rail fence near the drive.  Didn't have good paper I think as the pencil leaves very little markings without a great deal of effort.

Please let me know if they show up.  I can't find them; but then I am a computer dummy!

Bobbi - one way to add a photo directly to a post is to click on   +Additional Options   right below the widow you are typing your post in.  Then you can "browse" through your computer files and click on the file for the picture you are trying to add.  It will insert the link right into the little search window.  Then when you hit Post, it will show up - or at least it should!  If is doesn't, maybe your file is too large. If that's the case you will need to make the picture smaller, and those instructions will have to come from someone else   :gl:

In another post this link was added as a way to change the file size of your photos - maybe it will help you, but I haven't tried it.

Once more.  The size was too large.  Both were taken together and for some reason I can only separate and get one.  Oh well.  It is what it is.

Hi Bobbi,

:congrats:  You managed to post a photo!  Did you do the drawing on colored paper?  I have taken  photos at night and even with the flash, they turned out this color.   :)  Now I wait for daylight and they turn out better.  I'm not real great at fiddling with my camera.

Anyway, I love drawings of old fences.  Yours looks great!  What I would suggest is that you darken the area between the logs where they are in shadow and gradually lighten as the log comes into the light.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.   :flowers:

Bobbi you've just climbed another rung up the PB ladder!
Your fence looks good, hard to tell from the photo but a bit of darker shadows will really make it 3D.
Great job, well done

???  When's the next one coming?      ;D

Bobbi, and everyone else - I stand corrected on posting a photo   :knuppel2:

Although what I posted was technically correct, Dennis reminded us that we should be posting into our Gallery albums, so that all may see them more easily.

YES - that makes sense.  SORRY DENNIS     And thanks for the reminder and the link to the information on how to post a photo to the Gallery.

I'll try to be good   from now on - but no promises that I won't flub up once in awhile!! :idiot2:

Thanks everyone for all of your help and encouragement.  I love the idea of watercolor, but I am trying to set it aside for a bit and get a better handle on drawing.

I have several other drawings that I have done.  Last night I drew the pepper mill and salt shaker on the kitchen table!

I have a love of old wooden barns, stone buildings and bridges and old houses.  Hard to say what comes next.  Old barn I would guess.  :thankyou:

Thanks again for the encouragement.  And, I will post to my gallery.

NOTE by Dennis.   Place the cursor where you want it and then just click on one of the smileys above and it will place the code for it there. When you post the smiley will show up in the correct place.
