As far as the rejects. I used mine for keeping warm in the winter time. [woodburner]  :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: :2funny: So they don't go to waste.

HI Jenny. Sorry I have taken so long to come back to you but I had my hands full over the weekend.

The main thing that bothers you is the field on the left. The strokes at the top should be very very short and then progressively get longer as you reach the bottom edge. Your strokes give the impression of extremely long grass. Then the very straight line at the top of the grass should be made a little "up and down" if you know what I mean. No problem with the trees on the right - they are OK. The grass on the right is also OK.

Just do a little "lifting" on the sun side of each of the trees just to separate them a bit from each other and that will make them look better. Don't worry at this point if they look like soldiers in a row. The whole idea of these lessons is not to produce "masterpieces" but to learn the techniques. It's a bonus if they do!

Don't get despondent - soon you will be painting trees like a pro  O0 Don't forget, I was once a beginner too and struggled just like the rest of you  :flowers:

Jenny.

thank you for posting,  i have not been able to even get to finishing the  lesson on the stone house yet.

The thing that struck me was how nice the trees on the right turned out. and the tall one is wonderful!  Together, they make a very nice statement. I hope to do as good~

  Hi Jenny, working my way through the lessons and trying to catch up with the forum.     I can really appreciate the work Dennis & Nolan do.

I had the same thought, to try lifting out bits of the trees to help break them up a bit. Can't think of much else that would be helpful as I think its pretty well covered. Don't be despondent, just have another go. It's the one thing that keeps me going....I'm quite fortunate really, 'If I muck it up today....I get to do it again tomorrow!'   >:D   O0
Cheers, Val

Harald, I've watched with interest how you have been progressing with your painting. To see you pop this one in a frame makes it look very nice. You should keep onwards and showcase more. Every step is taking you on a colourful journey to be proud of.
Well done
PS
Only tip I could furnish you is, watch for the subject leaning to the right too much. Other than that, its looking good. ;)

very well done Harald - beautiful

I agree with Tony. Just modify the tree trunks to being straight up and not leaning to the right. Do that and you will have an excellent painting  O0
