  • SMILE, It's a brand new day!

:)  :o  :D  ;D I am doing the happy dance!  :yippee: I did the sketch for this 2 weeks before christmas. Picture of a dear friend's boat. I got a touch of paranoia when it came to painting it...so I went and played about with some other stuff. Finally sat down and made myself do it yesterday afternoon...got so involved we didn't get supper! Anyway, this is the result and I have to say I am surprised and just a little bit thrilled!  It actually looks like their boat!! To Dennis I must say thankyou for all your insights into how to make the whites look whiter, and your video on layering colour. Nolan, thankyou for your coaching on colour mixing, you have unknowedly (is that a word?) bailed me out inumerable times. I think I'm actually learning to paint!!!!  :smart:  :painting: Sorry for carrying on but I am really excited!   :parachute:  :parachute:
Oh...what do you think? Never mind me...honestly.....?

See my comment about skies in another post. The sky is not disturbing at all - looks quite natural.
If you darken the shadows up a bit more in the sails then they will look even brighter because of the contrast will have been heightened

Also darken the sea in the foreground up a bit more with a glaze to give the effect of distance. Otherwise well done. Keep it up.

Remarkably done Val.   I agree with Dennis in adding a bit of contrast, but it looks terrific to me as is.  I like the shadow on the sail.
