This summer I decided that I wanted to learn how to paint. After watching several painting lessons on the Internet I came upon Paintbasket. Wow, what a great learning site. I am so excited to be a part of this group.  Nolan you are a great teacher.  I feel I have learned so much in such a short time, but of course this is only the beginning. I chose two of my paintings to share so I could get some feed back from others. That is a bonus for being a part of this group. All comments are welcomed. I want to learn and grow.

Thank you.   For the front mountain I used the palette knife.

:welcome: Sparkl! Your rose is lovely.  I like how the leaves look 3D. Your mountain has great texture and high lights.

Oh, my! This is amazing for first work.

The flower looks totally perfect to me.  Fabulous background.

The mountain scene is very good, though the cloud on the left has a distracting little hook. (Looks like the map of Massachusetts with the arm of cape Cod hanging in the ocean)

Tilt your head to the left and the back mountain looks like someone peacefully sleeping.  Tilt to the right and the person looks angry about something.

:bigwelcome: to the PB family Sparkl

You have done a great job, especially on the Rose :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:

Just a tip with landscapes - try to get the clouds moving behind foreground objects - this adds extra depth O0
