I went back and looked at everyone else's submission for this lesson.  You did well.

Maybe next time, just do a clearer sky as Dennis did.  Also, the red roofs on your houses in the distance seem too bright to be so far away. Maybe a light mistyish wash would tone them down.

Otherwise, I'd say you did quite well.

Louisa,

I meant the light misty wash for the roofs, not the clouds.  Be sure to use very little water so that the reddish color won't bleed.

Hmmm, though, maybe a wash over the sky might blend it better, too.  Not sure about that.

When you wash the sky, turn the painting upside down so that the water does not run over the painting itself. Try to use as little water as possible to reduce buckling of the paper. Otherwise, the techniques are there

I was reviewing Dennis's class on how to stretch watercolour paper and saw how effortlessly he did trees using the side-of-the-brush technique.  So, I tried it as I needed to do a tree-filled background for a painting I am working on as a wedding present.

Details

This was just for practice and I spent less than 10-minutes on it.  I know I need to do a better job on the trunks, though.

Well done Mea, your trees are going to improve dramatically from that little exercise.     

Funny thing.... I was watching that same video yesterday afternoon! I skipped the stretching bit as I don't need help with that, I was like you, interested in the tree technique. Just shows, being able to review previous classes really helps.
