Well here is my attempt at glazing the lamp.   First time I've tried my hand at glazing.

WoW Valweb--I like the silver base.  Did you use cad yellow for the reflected light and blue for some of the rest?  Very nice.

 Looks great! Love the colors on the lampshade.

Ohhhhhh!  Val!  You always do such beautiful work!  I love it!

Just one thing though.  I just checked the reference photo and I'm wondering about the top of the vase.  What do you think?

Nice job valweb.  Yes the idea of glazing over a black and white layer is new to me too.  I do however use glazing extensively to create overall colour harmony, or to push back details. Have not got mine done yet, occupied with a portrait of my son & his fiance for their wedding.  I hope to build up the lampshade slowly layer by layer over the next week or two.  Trying to decide about different colours-it was nice to see that you used blue, and making the base more silvery gave it a unique and different look.   I will soon have to make a colour choice--hate decisions.

The colours of your lamp work well Valweb and you've really caught the metallic look of the base.

Mary you did a great job with the lamp, it looks straight and has great detail, which I know was hard to do.  I can't tell from the pic if what I am seeing in the background is reflection or the actual background, but I wonder if you need to blend the background a little as there seems to be sharp edges between the dark and light areas.  Great work
