Mary you did a great job with the lamp, it looks straight and has great detail, which I know was hard to do.  I can't tell from the pic if what I am seeing in the background is reflection or the actual background, but I wonder if you need to blend the background a little as there seems to be sharp edges between the dark and light areas.  Great work

Gail!  Thank you so much...I don't know if if comes across but I actually did this in an 8 x 10 canvas vs what I always use which is the 16 x 20 so it was especially challenging to me.  Definitely need to blend that background more and thank you for calling it to my attention.  Just another reason for me NOT to be painting at 1 a.m.!   Thank you again!   :flowers:

Well here is my attempt at glazing the lamp.   First time I've tried my hand at glazing.

Val - this is absolutely stunning....LOVE your colors and how well you put it all together.  I just finished Part 1 as you know and your is pure inspiration to me.  I can only hope mine will be half as good!  Awesome!

Valweb, your lamp is beautiful. I really like your choice of colors. It has real harmony and feels relaxing.

Mary Part one looks real good. Can't wait for part two.

great job on the paintings Val and Mary

Val you have managed to capture the light beautifully in the scene, well doen

Mary great job on the lamp, just soften the lines on the cup before you glaze, they are too hard at the moment O0

Thank you, Nolan...working on the glazing portion...I kind of like doing it...if I hadn't used such a small canvas...but I like the process.  Since the cup and background are bone dry now, not quite sure how to go about softening it but I'll see if I can figure it out.   :thankyou:

you will just use thicker glazes, so you are more painting than glazing O0

Just finished the lamp, taking a break from my portrait project, still two lessons behind as well.   Interesting project.

Gail, you do such lovely paintings!  You did a splendid job on this one as well.  I'm in awe!!!   :congrats:

Gail! That's a terrific rendition of this glazing painting. I love the detail and sense of realism. Well done

Mary and Gail very nice work on the lamps. Gail, I really liked your black and white lamp but there is some lovely light in the glazed version.

Gail--This looks great.  Love the detail in the lamp, really beautiful.  Also, although this is a small portion of the painting, I think you have portrayed the lead between the glass so realistically.  The light coming forth from the lamp is terrific. Well done.
