I always wanted to paint but no time for it as i am avid crafter!(sweing, crocheting, machine knitting, sculpting, quilting, reborning and so on)
Now i took me the time to try different technics watercolor acrylic and oil.
And i like the oil best.
I found my way here through youtube and all wonderfull videos from paintbasket!
Almost finnished 2 paintings in oil tryed to follow as much "painting rules" as possibly  .
I hope to learn much more among all talented artists!
A lot of hugs from a terribly cold and wet sweden!

 :bigwelcome: to Paintbasket, Mel!

I'm glad you found Paintbasket and you're already enjoying the great teaching on the videos.

I've been here a little less than 2 years and I've been enjoying the live webinars and this friendly community.  I've learned a lot about painting and drawing.  I'm mostly involved in the drawing course and the watercolor live webinars, but I have done Nolan's portrait painting course and loved it.  I did a portrait of my grandson.  I never imagined I could have attempted something like that before joining Paintbasket.

Like you, I have done knitting, sewing, crocheting, embroidery, etc. over the years, but my fondest dream has been to learn to paint and draw.  Now that I'm retired, I am having loads of fun and I'm overwhelmed with inspiration.

Please post your paintings.  We'd love to see them.  You will get lots of friendly feedback and that's a great way to learn.

:)  ...nice to meet you, I hope to see more of you and what you've been doing.

Mel,  :welcome: You are in the right place.  This is a talented and kind community and I have learned tons already.  It is nice that Nolan and Dennis don't take it for granted that you already know things, but go over all basics in an incredibly understandable way.  I rush home from work each day to see what new thing I can learn.  I know that you will love this experience.  :gl2:

Hi Mel,

Welcome to the friendly forum.

Oil is a fantastic medium and a lot more foregiving than watercolour. I am sure you will pick it up easily with Paintbasket.

I see you come from Sweden. I love paintings from a Swedish artist called Maria Ginzburg. Unfortunately none of her books have been translated to English.

Kind regards,

Rui

Very nice work.  ... also, it's so wonderful to be able to befriend people all over the world.  Without this site, most likely we would not have met!  Thank you Nolan and Dennis for such a privilege.
