This painting is only the third painting i have done....I am curious how other people view it other than my kids who are biased.

I actually call it Contemplation.

It is on a store bought canvas and painted in Acrylics.

I haven't sealed it at all as that part escapes me -people either seal in some way or they don't.

I also initially draw lightly with pencil whatever part I need guidance with.

I also have the other 2 in pictures but as yet haven't worked out the gallery

Thanks for your comments - that boosted my confidence a touch...

I felt confident the wall seemed to have depth - the jester is the part that seems a little 'flat' to me. I was trying to get him to 'pop' out at you.

I also don't think the skin tone seems right - perhaps more shades of skin tone.

It is the shadows that are missing in the jester Blonders. You can do a colour wash now to add shadow colour. That will round off the legs, etc.

I didn't even give that a thought...so I fixed it

The color wash I looked into that,( I had no idea what it was) then I did that - but the jester still didn't seem to 'pop' enough.

So I stepped back and looked as if seeing it for the first time then it clicked.

I now have shadowing through the jester and I am impressed with him now!

Hi Blonders...Brilliant!! I think the colours are marvellous. The little shadows have made a world of difference. If your kids liked it before, they must be doing cartwheels now!

See what a world of difference a little bit of correct shading can do
