Thanks Mea, I think it is more commonly known as the 'Bird Of Paradise' in Canada as well, except for the horticulturalists, they always referred to it as Strelitzia.  :D

Yes Val, I also knew this flower as bird of paradise... not that I ever saw one in Canada.  Few years ago I saw a bunch of them in South California at a red light,  just there by the side of the road.  I got so excited I got out of the car to take photos and was welcome by many tuting horns.  I could not help it.  Never touch them, so this was a difgicult painting.  So little frame of reference.

Val your painting is great, much better balance betwen the background and the flower itself.

Annie, the only bird of paradise i ever saw in Canada was from a florist. Seeing them grow wild down here is such a pleasure.

My painting only turned out as it did thanks to Dennis and his steadfast  :knuppel2: !  Just kidding, excellent teaching methods.  O0
