seeing two pics at once

Not sure that this is the right place for this question, but this is where I saw it first.
What key strokes are used to view two pics side by side. I saw this trick from Nolan some weeks ago and even commented on it.
Dumb old me forgot to write it down and now I don't remember how.

if there are two or more photos from the gallery, then you can use the little forward and back arrows to see both
