Thanks Mea, really appreciate your comments, will fix them but not immediately, my sister that stays with us is not well and I'm taking her to the hospital tomorrow for a stomach operation.

Louisa,

Hope your sister is going to be okay.  She's lucky to have you to take care of her.

Take care of yourself, too!

Lovely pic, maybe I will take  look at painting this one after seeing yours.  Sosorry to hear about your sister, hope she is ok now.  My Mom died Friday after our Messenger chat, just 3 weeks short of her 100th, but at least I had got to see her when we were up there, although only got a nod in recognition! :gl: for your sis and

another great painting Louisa
straighten the horizon and add an extra bunch of grass on the right to break the circle effect, so just make the extra bush overlap somewhere off center

I had to kill time today, so I finished a lesson I started last week.

I should have painted over the sunset sky, though.  Too bright and the top of the sky should have been darker as night is approaching.

I really wanted to try doing the grasses because it looked so easy when Nolan was doing it.  I tried, then had to improvise.  His way of making ocean looked easy, too, but I botched that, too.

The upshot is that I now know what I did wrong and will not make these mistakes again.  despite it all, I kind of like this.

Anything else?

great job Mea.
What you want to do next time is tone down your colours, especially in the distance. For example the yellow in the sky and the blue of the sea are too intense which makes you loose a lot of realism. Intense colours at the focal point / in front then add sky colour to tone down as you recede into the distance to get the atmospheric perspective correct O0

Thanks, Nolan.  I appreciate your taking the time to comment.

Will be careful with color intensity and create a better sense of distance in the future.

Wonder how you could fix it Mea.  Or just paint another one.  Anyway, you got some practice and that's all good.

Robin, thanks.   I thought about painting over the yellow sky with white, then washing it with blue.  Never got past the thinking stage.
