These grain elevators were once an icon of the prairies. One could be found about 20 miles in any direction throughout the prairies. Alas, they have all but disappeared as family farms gave way to corporate large farms and horse and wagon gave way to large trucks making proximity less important than efficiency. They have been replaced with large ugly cement silos.

Oh, yay! A prairie person. Now that is a vista I can identify with. And thank you for your rendition of the sentinel, Alan.  You're right--not quite like this one anymore.
