Thank you, Sarah. After my landscape i just finishes, i wanted to do something else, and i like pansies, even now it is cold, 3 degrees celsius, i have them in my garden. They are so strong, and just holding their heads up, even after these very cold nights.

Lovely flowers Rita, I was eight when I left your neck of the woods but I do remember the cold.

Another pretty drawing Rita. Love how the light plays off of the ribbon and the linen look to the background.

Thank you Tania, Bhavna, Natalie, Zilpa, Red, Lynn and Mary Lou for all the lovely comments. I don't draw or paint flowers often, this is my second flower i have drawn. The first is a orange lily with a lovely butterfly. But that background i messed up.
Lynn, this background was a happy accident, i didn't get it blended very well, so i crosshatched it in the hope, that would help...not much. But after i uploaded the drawing, i saw that it just look like linen.
Zilpa, where are you from, i'm originally from Enschede. I'm always surprised to see how many people have their origins in the Netherlands.
The ribbon was the biggest challenge, to get all the turns right and the highlights and shading, and i think that is the best part of the drawing also. In total there are more than 20 colours in this small painting, the ribbon alone has 6 colours.

That's great, Zilpa. I believe that with, keeping up your first language, you always have your land of birth close to your heart, some kind of safe place where you always will be very welcome. And your children, did you teached them Dutch? Mis je Nederland niet, vooral nu met Sinterklaas, die is net vorige week weer aangekomen?
sorry Dennis, i know

You've done a great job of your painting Rita! I like how you have added the ribbon too. It makes it unique.
Well done
