Built in 1625, Gelligroes Mill stands on the River Sirhowy near the town of Pontllanffraith in South Wales. The mill was 'restored' in 1993 and a turbine/generator installed to the water wheel, but had been i use up until the early 1900's. It is reputed that a radio ham living here at the time was the first person in th UK to hear the SOS messages broadcast by the SS Titanic after she hit the iceberg !!
This is my first serious attempt at doing a 'larger' painting in acrylics, painted with W&N Galeria paints on a 14"x10" sheet of acrylic paper.
