aw thank you so much Nolan  :yippee: I sure need good luck with my Rose let me tell ya - may just have to abandon it and start from the beginning as all the colours I mixed before are completely different to what I just tried to mix!   :idiot2:  Not as easy as it looks and so I think I will start prepping from the beginning and just thank you for telling us NOT to throw the Rose outline away and as you so rightly said - it may come in handy so, hopefully I'll get one drawn on a blank canvas and then A for AWAY.  I'll wish myself good luck too  :gl2: :yippee:  I sure have a lot of catching up to do but looking forward to it more than ever  :painting:

:welcome:  Back Toni my friend, I have just seen your post and was SOOO EXCITED to know that you are back with us.  "Sterkte, gesondheid en bly mooi".  Crumbs, my Afrikaans has gone out of the window ... I had to THINK of the words I wanted to say.  Shows you, 15 years away and it is like a life time.  Take it easy Toni and just enjoy yourself.  Patricia

thank you Pat.........I am also excited to be back and may not spend much time 'jibber-jabbering' as I'm soooo busy playing catch-up :yippee:  I do think that when you start a project you must keep it up as it's not good when you have to try and re-match colours especially as I have found this time with my Rose - the poor 'thing' has sat for weeks and of course my palette (ja, I'm even talking like an artist now  :2funny: ) dried up!  thanks for your lovely wishes - my Afrikaans is still 'wonderlik' and I will 'kyk noord en 'gaan' voort' as they apparently said in the army (er edited version  :yippee: )

I bought new paints and of course decided - 'goedkoop is duurkoop'  ;D so from now on only the best would do for me and my rose  ;) but the colours are soooo much brighter!   I couldn't 'match' them with those horrid cheap little teeny tubes of paint I had purchased ' you know those cheap deals you get ' buy one get one free'  :yippee: but when you squidge paint out of them the darn things burst open on the sides!!  So a lesson learnt!

I have decided NOT to re-start my Rose as to the untrained eye it actually looks quite nice but I am going to make the most of it, finish it and see it as a very good learning curve and then I will start the portrait lessons of which there are many.

Important things first though.................I have gone back onto the colourwheel and colour theory lesson as I realised that I was being soooooo impatient and rushing through the lessons not even 'listening' at times because all I wanted to do was get painting on that rose!! :yippee: and nothing was going to stop me SO..............a lesson from an idiot...........don't try and run before you can walk..........be a good student...........listen and learn before you try and be a smartass :2funny: (like I was trying to be).

so again I am looking forward to many happy painting lessons and I am determined to master that colourwheel and colour theory as for sure, if you don't 'get that' then you might as well give up so from now on I will listen and learn  :painting:

Have a blessed day..........it's so beautiful here today and Spring is in the air - the little snowdrops are starting to surface, a sure sign of Spring and hopefully some more beautiful days like these............
