Mary Lou, I just love these paintings. Semi-abstract is my favorite type of painting. I should say that it's my favorite type of painting as a viewer, since I haven't ever painted anything like this before. All I can say is: stunning!

Mary Lou your abstracts are gorgeous, so colourful and in the first one I saw a bird with wings outstretched. Interesting. Oh! By the way, when I was busy with the Venice painting I thought about you and your line washes for I thought that the Venice painting would lend itself perfectly to what you do so well. I would love to see you give it a try. Patricia

Icecream cone?
Absolutely right! There's fish jumping on the left!
This one is just packed with surprises!
Well done.

Thank you Dennis and Val.....I see the ice cream cone and fish and flower in the corner. Dennis, I used to play that scribble game as a kid. We would scribble and then make something out of it. You brought back such a good memory!!

Good training in creativity and imagination - both needed for better painting

Wow! I really like all your abstracts, Mary Lou.
Before I was introduced to abstract painting here on Paintbasket, I didn't care for them. My brain has done a huge turnaround.

I am enjoying this class. I hope to post the abstract Rooster soon. While I am in the process of putting it together, I have posted an abstract of some flowers I drew on watercolor paper sprinkled with salt.

TheBryce,
As Arte Johnson would say, V-e-r-r-r-y Interesting. I am still to new at this hobby to dry things so different.
Love the way the salt makes the colors flow.
